My Photo.

Here I am, the mystery revealed. As you will see, "Old" refers exclusively to the food that I study.

A recent photo, taken at my daughter's pre-wedding "Hen's Day" - which really was all day, and into the night, and a good time had by all. It was almost as much fun as the wedding itself, last Saturday 8th April.

Only a few weeks until the other young foodie (son) gets married - in GREECE. And how much fun is that?!

Return to The Old Foodie.

So pleased to [see]meet you at last! And old is strictly in the eye of the beholder!

I feel I should mention - yours is the most original food blog on the internet, and probably the one which the most work goes into.

An excellent resource for all.

Thankyou for those kind words Scott. I am delighted that you enjoy the blog, and that you find it a useful resource - this is what I hoped it would be.

You have a super web site. Everything about it is top notch! I wish every site was as enjoyable to wander around in as your is. And the topic is one that can't help but appeal to everybody. What can possibly be more basic to life than food? - Air? Water? - Keep up the great work!

Just wonderful! Have you seen Kettners book of the Table?
Will visit often.

The Old Foodie said...

Hello Sunnybrae etc. I have a copy of Kettner's book of the Table - although I understand he lent his name to it, he is not the real author.
It is good to have Aussie feedback!

Yes he sold the copy to pay his debts. I think many old and contemporary cook-books are written in the same way.

I just found your blog and am thoroughly enjoying it! I started my journey as a Canadian foodie years ago when I inherited an old cookbook from my mother. She was helping to rennovate a cabin and it was stuffed inside the wall in the kitchen. It's called, "The Favorite Cook Book", by Mrs. Grace Townsend, 1894. It was such fun reading through it and all the handwritten notes from someone in the past were just great. I will visit here regularly!

Hi Janet!

I stumbled upon your blog and am totally captivated! This site is more than wonderful!

Thank you so much for sharing all of this with the world! :)

Hi Tim.
Thankyou. I hope you have gone across to the "main" site The Old Foodie itself? I have ceased to add to the Companion site, as I now allow myself a broader brief for the original one. I write something for The Old Foodie every weekday.

Hi! I was searching for a 'template' of sorts to teach my American classmates how to appreciate watermelon seeds.

The story is... Some of my colleagues ate the shell and seed WHOLE... so i thought i'd better do a bit of surfing around for a how-to-eat-watermelon-seeds guide instead of demonstrating in class (the seeds aren't that big!) and that's how i found your site.

Very interesting read! Thank you!
